Dr Ziggy Switkowski

Chancellor, RMIT University

Ziggy is a nuclear physicist. In 2011, Ziggy was appointed the Chancellor of RMIT University. Hei is well known as the former CEO of Telstra, Australia’s largest telecommunications company, and as the current Chairman of Suncorp.

He also spearheaded the Australian government’s Uranium Mining, Processing and Nuclear Energy Review (UMPNER), whose findings were released in 2006. Ziggy holds a number of non-executive directorships of listed companies including Suncorp-Metway, Healthscope, Tabcorp, Oil Search and Lynas. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, and of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He also currently serves as Chairman of Opera Australia and on the Board of Directors of the Business Council of Australia. Ziggy holds BSc and PhD degrees in nuclear physics, he graduated from the advanced management program at Harvard Business School.
