Prof. Bruce Hebblewhite

Bruce is Head of the School of Mining Engineering at the University of New South Wales. He is a leading figure in Australian mining education, specialising in mining geomechanics, design, planning and the need for innovative and effective mine safety training for Australian mining engineers.

Bruce has over 30 years experience in mining engineering, having worked in Australia and internationally in many aspects of the industry. He often provides expert legal witness, and various forms of consulting and research services for industry partners. He was the inaugural Executive Director for Mining Education Australia (MEA) and belongs to various national and international professional bodies, including Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, Australian Geomechanics Society, and American Institute of Mining Engineers. Bruce has held previous roles as Mining Engineer/Research Assistant at Cleveland Potash Ltd, Mining Engineer at ACIRL Ltd; with other Senior Mining Engineering and managerial roles in Mining. He holds BE and PhD degrees in mining engineering.
