Michael Roche: "The good news for the resources sector in my state, in Queensland is that four out of five Queenslanders support the mining and resources sector. For some of them they’ll see it as a necessary evil, that doesn’t mean they actually love the industry, but even when we ask the questions about whether or not they have a favourable view of the mining resources industry, the vast majority of respondents say yes and the vast majority of people in Queensland nominate the resources sector as the single most important part of their economy. So there is a good support for the sector, but it doesn’t come at any price and people are concerned about the environment and so they want a resources sector that is both strong and growing, delivering jobs, but they want a resources sector that is looking after the environment as well."
