Leigh Clifford: "The mining industry, the resource industry generally and the mining industry in Australia is vital to the prosperity of Australia.  I think Australians understand that, therefore we’ve got to make sure that the environment in which they work, taxation environment, the labour relations environment and obviously the requirements regarding environmental management etc.  And safe working is up to the standards that the community expects.  But I think all Australians…not all Australians but the majority of Australians understand well how vital it is to the economy."
